About This Role
Hiive is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity. Through its institutional-grade platform, Hiive brings together buyers, sellers, and issuers to facilitate secondary transactions in venture-backed, pre-IPO companies, introducing efficiency, transparency, and standardization to an otherwise opaque asset class. Recognized as one of Canada's fastest-growing companies and backed by leading U.S. investors, Hiive is profitable, well-capitalized, and building a high-performance team to meet growing demand and pursue new market opportunities.
As VP of Investments, you report directly to Hiive's CEO and serve as CEO of Hiive Advisors Inc. (HAI), the affiliated registered investment advisor. HAI's mandate is to build AUM by sourcing high-quality investment opportunities for HAI managed funds and establishing a high standard for transparency, accountability, and re-sale liquidity for funds traded on Hiive's platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chair the Hiive Advisors Inc. Investment Committee with ultimate responsibility for all investment decisions
- Determine and implement investment strategy for Hiive Funds including policies, guidelines, and monitoring
- Assess, structure, and approve all Hiive-managed fund formations
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence of sellers, companies, and underlying funds
- Establish and monitor pricing and valuation strategies, policies, and guidelines
- Make investment decisions during distributions including liquidation events
- Direct investor communications for corporate actions, price changes, and transaction term changes
- Oversee new fund product design and multi-asset fund approvals
- Participate in pitches of investment solutions to institutional customers
- Design and develop new investment products responding to market demand signals
The ideal candidate has deep expertise in private markets or venture capital secondaries, experience managing investment vehicles, and the entrepreneurial drive to build a firm-within-a-firm at one of the fastest-growing fintech platforms in private markets.
