About This Role

Headline.com is a global venture capital firm with approximately $4B in assets under management, backing category leaders like Mistral AI, Segment, and Sonos through data-driven investment strategies and proprietary technology. The firm is seeking a technical investor for its San Francisco team to focus on early-stage AI infrastructure and developer tools.

This role combines traditional venture capital sourcing and diligence with hands-on engineering. The investor will build proprietary data pipelines and AI-powered tools while engaging directly with founders to identify the next generation of category-leading software. Responsibilities include sourcing and engaging over 15 founders weekly across AI infrastructure, developer tools, and agentic systems to identify investment opportunities early; conducting technical deep-dives and founder calls, synthesizing complex architectures into investment theses for the firm's partner team; and developing and deploying custom AI automations, data pipelines, and market maps to improve the firm's proprietary sourcing systems and internal deal flow.

The role offers direct exposure to a roughly $4B AUM global fund's investment decisions and partners, access to proprietary sourcing and evaluation technology, and the opportunity to remain a builder while shaping AI infrastructure investment decisions.

The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of experience in high-output environments such as early-stage AI startups, technical product roles, or early-career venture capital, holds a technical degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math, has demonstrated ability to build and ship real-world software products, and is AI-native, regularly building with LLMs and modern development workflows to evaluate model serving, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks. The role is based in San Francisco.
