Role Overview
California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), the nation's largest public pension fund with approximately $627.93 billion in assets, is hiring an Associate Investment Manager for its Sustainable Investments (SI) team, playing a central role in advancing CalPERS' commitment to climate solutions across its private markets portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Investment Director and/or private asset class Investment Manager(s) in underwriting energy transition-focused funds and/or climate solutions co-investments.
- Map the private climate solutions investment landscape across relevant asset classes; monitor market developments, emerging sectors and evolving manager strategies.
- Support tracking, measurement and reporting of the private markets portfolio's climate solutions exposure, contributing to CalPERS' climate and performance goals accountability efforts.
Program Context
In November 2023, CalPERS announced its objective to invest over $100 billion in climate solutions by 2030 under the Sustainable Investments (SI) program.
Qualifications
- Classification: Associate Investment Manager, Public Employees' Retirement System (Associate level).
Compensation & Location
- $10,937.50 - $18,229.17 per month, eligible for annual incentive awards of 0-60% of salary and long-term incentive awards of up to 60% of base salary after five years, subject to fund performance thresholds.
- Work location: Sacramento County, CA — hybrid schedule, up to two remote days per week.
