About This Role

Role Overview

California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), the nation's largest public pension fund with approximately $590.32 billion in assets, is hiring an Investment Manager for its Private Debt (PD) Asset Class to assist in managing the CalPERS Private Debt Portfolio and the Enhanced Return Portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead day-to-day implementation of investment strategies and policies within CalPERS' Private Debt portfolios to earn the highest rate of return at strategically targeted risk levels.

- Serve as a mentor, training and leading staff in the day-to-day underwriting, execution, and monitoring of PD investment strategies.

- Recommend new and innovative investment strategies to the Managing Investment Director (MID) and Investment Director (ID) to improve returns or better manage risk.

- Contribute to the PD team's investment decisions by staying informed of private debt market conditions, including structured products.

Qualifications

- Classification: Investment Manager, Public Employees' Retirement System (Mid-Senior level).

- An executive search firm is assisting with the recruitment process for this position.

Compensation & Location

- $15,250.00 - $25,416.67 per month, eligible for annual incentive awards of 0-75% of salary and long-term incentive awards of up to 75% of base salary after five years, subject to fund performance thresholds.

- Work location: Sacramento County, CA — hybrid schedule, up to two remote days per week.
