Senior Research Analyst - Alternatives

M&T Bank is seeking a Senior Research Analyst to join its Alternatives team, identifying, analyzing, and recommending alternative investments to improve portfolio outcomes for wealth management clients. The role covers manager selection, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring across private equity, private real estate, private credit, and hedge funds.

The analyst will collaborate with client-facing colleagues to strengthen understanding of investment solutions, participate in client and prospect meetings, and analyze risks, exposures, and performance drivers of investment strategies. Responsibilities also include managing and allocating research work to junior teammates, preparing documentation to approve investments, and communicating portfolio performance, investment options, risks, and pending decisions to stakeholders.

The position requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (or 9 years of combined education/work experience), a strong understanding of capital markets, and proficiency with industry tools including Bloomberg, FactSet, and Morningstar Direct. Hands-on investment experience in alternative asset classes at a wealth manager, family office, foundation, endowment, consultant, or other institutional asset management firm is required.

Preferred qualifications include a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, progress toward or completion of the CFA designation, an advanced degree, an established network of industry contacts, and experience mentoring junior teammates. The role is based in Radnor, Pennsylvania, and offers an annual salary range of $128,100 to $213,500.
