About This Role

About the Role

MetLife Investment Management (MIM) is hiring an Associate for its Private Capital team, which covers corporate private credit, infrastructure debt, private asset-based finance, residential credit, and alternative strategies. The Associate will support the Corporate Private Debt team in originating, executing, and managing primarily investment-grade corporate private debt investments across a wide range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

- Source and evaluate investment opportunities through market research, deal tracking (Salesforce), roadshows, and engagement with bankers, issuers, and advisors

- Conduct due diligence by reviewing offering memoranda, research reports, rating agency analyses, legal structures, and transaction documentation

- Perform financial analysis and modeling, including reviewing financial statements, building and updating models, and running sensitivity and credit assessments

- Support transaction execution: preparing investment memoranda, assessing pricing and relative value, recommending credit ratings, and assisting with closings

- Prepare presentations and investment recommendations for Investment Committee discussions, collaborating with Client Portfolio Management

- Monitor portfolio investments through credit reviews, portfolio update meetings, credit event reporting, and handling amendments/waivers

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree with strong academic record and 2-3+ years of experience in credit underwriting, corporate finance, M&A, or investment analysis

- Strong credit and financial analysis skills, including financial statement review and fundamental credit assessment

- Advanced Excel and financial modeling proficiency, with fixed income market analysis experience

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Unrestricted U.S. work authorization required

- Preferred: CFA charterholder, business/accounting degree, private placements experience, familiarity with Bloomberg and Salesforce

Compensation & Location

The expected salary range is $110,000-$130,000, plus eligibility for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. This is a hybrid role based in Whippany, NJ, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
