Vice President Underwriting

CREA, LLC is a full-service low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) syndicator with more than 25 years in affordable housing, having raised over $14 billion since inception across 1,000+ communities and 100,000+ homes. CREA is hiring a Vice President in its Underwriting department in Indianapolis, reporting to the Managing Director, Credit & Underwriting.

The VP independently manages a portfolio of assigned LIHTC investment transactions from initial screening through closing and funding: evaluating financial models, development budgets, operating pro formas, market studies and financing structures; performing debt sizing, break-even analysis, cash-flow projections, sensitivity testing and risk assessment; recommending rent/expense levels; assessing developer and guarantor strength and creditworthiness; reviewing financing documents and partnership structures; and leading preparation of underwriting memoranda and presentations to Screening, Placement, Capital and Investment Committees. The role also mentors Analysts and Associate Underwriters and contributes to refining CREA's underwriting standards and tools.

Requirements include a bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business, and a minimum of eight years of applicable experience in multifamily real estate, affordable housing, LIHTC syndication, commercial real estate lending, or real estate investment analysis, with demonstrated independent underwriting and presentation experience. Advanced Excel and financial modeling proficiency is required. The position is based in Indianapolis with roughly 10% travel.
