Vice President, Strategy and Research Job Description

The core of our investment strategy is centered on our ability to evaluate specific topics, utilize relationships with Fortune 1000 companies, and leverage these insights to drive value to our portfolio and partners. The firm partners with dozens of leading public companies across retail, payments, banking and insurance to identify and assess trends that are changing the future of commerce. We work collaboratively to invest in relevant opportunities that are validated through robust analyses and industry evaluation.

This role will focus on supporting these activities and helping build systems to continue to scale engagement across our ecosystem. She/he will work closely with the investment function and operate as an integral part of our corporate development team.

Independently create in-depth analyses on specific investment topics/ themes

Present key conclusions to external executive stakeholders

Develop and maintain working relationships with select corporate partners

Support day-to-day process across key relationships (incl. KPIs, metrics, etc.)

Support content and process management across CRM and CMS platforms

Assist investment team in diligence and deal processing

Support portfolio value creation and business development

Collaborate with other team members on strategic initiatives of the firm

Candidates should have 4-6 years of total prior work experience, including at either a:

Industry analyst experience from top industry research firms

Boutique consulting or advisory firm that is specialized in financial services, or retail with demonstrated competence in quantitative logic and analysis

Qualified candidates should also meet the following criteria:

Proven track record managing complex research & analytical projects

Ability to independently structure end-to-end analyses in powerpoint format

Experience presenting key findings to senior executive audiences

Strong attention to detail, including logic, formatting and writing

Self-starter with superior work ethic and uncompromising personal integrity

Demonstrated ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with limited supervision (including proactively seeking guidance when needed)

Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships

Candidates must have proficiency in excel and and a solid understanding of financial analysis

Intellectually curious and a habit of continuous learning

Undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution, and a demonstrated track record of both academic and professional success

Interest and experience in financial services and/or retail is preferred, but not mandatory.
