Senior Associate / Vice President, Real Estate Equity Asset Management

Ares Management is hiring a Senior Associate or Vice President to join its Residential / Living Asset Management team in London. The role sits within Ares' Real Estate Equity platform and focuses on driving value creation, operational performance, and disciplined execution across the firm's Residential and Living portfolio spanning EMEA, including multifamily, student housing, and other living-sector strategies.

Core responsibilities include developing and executing strategic asset management plans across a diversified pan-European operational real estate portfolio, with direct involvement in backed management companies. The successful candidate will coordinate debt workstreams, including asset refinancings and restructurings, and will lead conversations with joint-venture partners to advance business plans. The role also covers management of the disposal process, including leading transaction execution workstreams, alongside ongoing monitoring of property performance and market trends to identify value-enhancement and cash-flow optimization opportunities.

The position requires active review of property management agreements, lease agreements, and franchise contracts to ensure the optimal strategy is applied across assets and portfolios. The hire will implement and oversee property-level business plans, including capital expenditure programs and operational strategies designed to maximize asset value and investor returns, and will oversee quarterly business plan and valuation updates. The role also supports the firm's broader multifamily asset management strategy, working closely with Ares' acquisitions, finance, legal, and investor relations teams.

Candidates should bring at least five years of experience in real estate or finance from a private equity or investment management background, with direct exposure to operational real estate asset classes and experience working on bank refinancings and debt restructurings. An outstanding academic record from a top-tier university (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) is expected, along with strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities and the ability to operate effectively within a small, hands-on team.
