Director, Amgen Ventures

Role Overview

Amgen Ventures, the strategic corporate venture capital arm of Amgen, is hiring a Director to source, evaluate, execute, and manage venture investments across therapeutics, technology platforms, and emerging healthcare innovations. The role is based in Cambridge, MA and reports into the Amgen Ventures/Business Development leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and evaluate private biotechnology companies, healthcare technology companies, and venture capital funds aligned with Amgen's strategic and scientific priorities

- Maintain active relationships with entrepreneurs, VC firms, academic institutions, incubators, and innovation ecosystems

- Monitor emerging scientific, clinical, competitive, and investment trends across biotech, life sciences, AI-enabled drug discovery, and healthcare technology

- Perform scientific, strategic, commercial, competitive, and financial due diligence on prospective investments

- Support execution of venture investments including direct equity investments, syndicate financing, company creation opportunities, and LP fund investments

- Participate in transaction structuring, valuation analysis, term sheet review, and investment documentation

- Support management of existing portfolio companies and fund relationships, including board observer responsibilities

Qualifications

- Experience in venture capital investing, biotech/pharma business development, or life sciences investment banking

- Strong scientific and financial due diligence capabilities across therapeutics and healthcare technology

- Ability to work cross-functionally with Research & Development, Business Development, Strategy, Corporate Finance, and Legal
