About This Role
Turn/River Capital, a San Francisco-based private equity firm with $5.6 billion in committed capital, is seeking a VP, Product to build and operationalize its first-ever product playbook across its portfolio of software companies. Founded in 2012, Turn/River applies a proprietary growth engineering strategy to investing, partnering with software businesses to accelerate growth and build enduring value through hands-on operational support.
The VP, Product will work directly with Chief Product Officers, CEOs, and executive teams at portfolio companies to drive durable revenue outcomes—retention, expansion, and new sales—by improving how product teams identify value, prioritize work, and execute. This portfolio-facing operator role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, requiring both personal execution inside portfolio companies and the ability to codify learnings into a reusable playbook.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with CPOs and executive teams to assess product strategy, operating cadence, and value delivery
- Establish portfolio-consistent product measures including activation, time-to-value, and retention drivers
- Identify the highest-impact value leaks and define focused product bets
- Map customer journeys, sketch flows, draft copy, and create low-fidelity prototypes
- Partner with in-house designers and engineers to ship meaningful product changes
- Run existing Turn/River product plays and co-author new ones, codifying results into the firm's product playbook
- Strengthen alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success
Qualifications:
- Deep experience in B2B SaaS product management with a track record of driving revenue outcomes
- Ability to work across multiple portfolio companies simultaneously in a hands-on capacity
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with C-suite executives
- Experience with product-led growth strategies and frameworks
- Private equity or consulting background a plus
This role offers exposure to a diversified portfolio of software businesses and the opportunity to shape a first-of-its-kind operational playbook at a leading growth-oriented PE firm.
