Acquisitions Associate — Value-Add Retail Real Estate

Shields Group Search is partnered with a San Francisco Bay Area real estate investment and development firm on a search for an Acquisitions Associate. The client specializes in value-add neighborhood and necessity-based retail properties throughout the U.S., having acquired and developed 77 retail assets across 46 metros since 2010, with over $500 million of gross asset value. The firm is currently investing through Fund III, targeting mid-cap value-add retail assets and net-leased development opportunities historically underserved by institutional capital.

The Acquisitions Associate (on-site 4 days/week in San Rafael, CA) will research and underwrite nationwide development acquisitions, draft Letters of Intent, assist in review and negotiation of Purchase and Sale Agreements, and prepare Investment Committee Memoranda. Responsibilities also include managing PSA deadlines, coordinating due diligence with internal development and leasing teams, reviewing historical financials against pro forma, and managing acquisition and loan closings.

The role combines strong quantitative analysis with qualitative judgment and requires excellent written communication skills and the ability to interface across the firm's vertically integrated acquisitions, leasing, asset management, and construction teams.
