Investment Manager - Private Debt Investments

Munich Re's Group Investment Management (GIM) division is seeking an Investment Manager for its Alternative Investments team, focusing on private debt. GIM manages Munich Re and ERGO's proprietary investment portfolio of approximately €250 billion. The Alternative Investments department is responsible for the alternative asset strategy and its implementation across the Munich Re Group.

The Investment Manager will serve as asset class lead for private credit, responsible for executing the firm's private credit portfolio strategy spanning the full credit spectrum from investment grade to high yield, with a global portfolio scope. The role also carries secondary lead responsibility for the private equity asset class.

Key responsibilities include portfolio strategy development through research and monitoring of market developments, thematic deep dives, and identification of new investment opportunities. The Investment Manager will own the end-to-end investment process for private credit and equity funds, collaborating closely with internal units across opportunity assessment, credit analysis, single financial risk assessment, development of investment cases, due diligence support, ESG evaluation, and implementation of investment structures.

The role also involves further enhancement of the quantitative tools landscape for planning, steering and monitoring the alternatives portfolio, and preparation of investment decisions for senior management and the Alternative Investment Committee.

Munich Re seeks candidates with a strong academic background, relevant experience in private credit or comparable alternative asset classes, familiarity with single deal analysis and credit risk assessment, and strong quantitative skills.
