About This Role
Franklin Templeton, one of the world's largest investment management organizations with approximately .7 trillion in assets under management, is seeking a Mergers & Acquisitions Senior Associate to join its corporate M&A team in New York. The firm's alternatives platform manages 80 billion and includes Lexington Partners (private equity secondaries and co-investments), Benefit Street Partners (private credit), and Clarion Partners (real estate).
Reporting to Franklin Templeton's Global Treasurer and Head of M&A, the Senior Associate will support the execution of the firm's global acquisition strategy across alternative asset management, traditional asset management, and wealth management. Recent transactions include the acquisitions of Lexington Partners, Benefit Street Partners, Legg Mason, and Putnam Investments.
Key responsibilities include working with senior management to identify and execute M&A activities, including joint ventures and strategic investments; leading the development of detailed financial models to assess valuations, returns, operating assumptions, and sensitivities; and conducting thorough financial due diligence including quality-of-earnings reviews and working capital analyses. The role also involves preparing investment committee materials such as transaction memos, valuation outputs, and risk assessments, as well as performing comprehensive industry and competitive analysis.
This is a highly analytical and visible role suited to professionals with prior M&A, private equity, or investment banking experience. The successful candidate will combine strong financial modeling skills with the ability to communicate complex analyses clearly to senior leadership and manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment. Franklin Templeton offers significant exposure to large-cap, cross-border transactions across global asset management and alternatives.
