Associate, Private Equity Buyout

Apogem Capital, part of the New York Life Investment Management platform with approximately $44 billion in assets under management, is seeking an Associate for its private equity buyout investing team in Richmond, Virginia. Apogem specializes in middle-market private equity investments, offering associates direct exposure to institutional-quality deal flow across the buyout spectrum.

The Associate will support the full investment lifecycle, contributing to sourcing and monitoring fund commitments while participating in investment discussions with senior professionals. The role involves identifying process improvements, supporting the investment team on due diligence workstreams, and mentoring junior team members. Associates gain meaningful exposure to private markets investment concepts and contribute directly to portfolio construction and monitoring.

Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree and bring a minimum of two years of experience in private markets, investment banking, or consulting. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are required, along with advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Familiarity with data automation tools is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and collaborative working skills appropriate to a high-performing institutional investment team.

This role offers a competitive salary of $110,000 to $120,000 and the opportunity to build a career within one of the United States' leading insurance-affiliated asset managers.
