VC Principal

Tao Capital, a healthcare-focused venture fund managing over $500M across 70+ life science and biotech investments, is seeking a VC Principal to join their investment team on a remote basis.

Since 2019, Tao Capital has supported 11 portfolio companies that achieved IPO status in Hong Kong and China, reflecting a strong track record in deep science and life science investing.

Key Responsibilities:

- Identify, source, and manage investment opportunities in early-stage biotech startups in the US

- Execute venture deals and perform comprehensive due diligence on R&D pipelines, operations, finances, and market potential

- Build and maintain networks with academic and scientific leaders to develop investment theses

- Oversee venture launches and track portfolio company progress against milestones

- Contribute to fund strategy and portfolio support across the biotech and life science verticals

Requirements:

- PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or a related life science discipline

- Minimum 5 years of experience in business development and equity investment evaluation

- Prior pharmaceutical industry research or business development experience preferred

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to assess scientific and commercial opportunities

- Excellent communication skills for internal investment memos and external stakeholder engagement
