Associate, Market Intelligence

HarbourVest Partners, one of the world leading private markets fund of funds and secondaries managers with over 40 years of experience and over $100 billion in assets under management, is seeking a Market Intelligence Associate to join its Boston headquarters.

The role positions the successful candidate as an internal expert on private markets and the broader asset management landscape. The work involves ongoing coverage of competitor strategies, peer firm developments, new product launches, partnerships, acquisitions, and commercial approaches across private equity, private credit, and infrastructure — an approach analogous to how a sell-side analyst covers a sector or how a hedge fund analyst tracks a portfolio of names.

Day-to-day, the Associate will monitor key public and private asset management firms using a variety of sources including earnings reports, broker research, analyst estimates, industry news, and proprietary data sources. The individual will synthesize market developments into concise, actionable insights for senior investment and business professionals across the firm, supporting strategic decision-making and business development efforts.

The Associate will also contribute to building and maintaining a proprietary competitor and market intelligence database, and will support strategic initiatives and special projects as directed by senior leadership. The hybrid work arrangement offers 18 remote workdays per quarter.
