Associate, Investment Team

FocusGrowth Asset Management is an institutional investment firm dedicated to the U.S. cannabis industry, with over $1.1 billion deployed since 2020 predominantly across senior secured credit. The firm combines private equity-style engagement — including hands-on portfolio monitoring, active risk management, and ongoing strategic dialogue with management teams — with institutional-grade underwriting across the capital structure.

FocusGrowth is seeking an Associate to join its Investment Team in a principal investing role. This is a lean deal team where the Associate will take meaningful responsibility for underwriting, structuring, and executing investments from day one — primarily senior secured credit, with exposure to public equity, convertible instruments, and secondary market purchases.

Key Responsibilities: The Associate will conduct bottoms-up credit analysis and investment due diligence across the cannabis industry. The role involves identifying and evaluating new investment opportunities, building financial models, structuring transactions, and executing deals from origination through closing. Ongoing responsibilities include portfolio monitoring, reporting on portfolio company financial results, and participating in investment committee processes. The Associate will work directly alongside senior decision-makers and the firm's investment committee.

Qualifications: Candidates should have prior experience in investment banking, private credit, or private equity, with strong financial modeling and credit analysis skills. Comfort with complex, capital-constrained industries and entrepreneurial environments is important. The ideal Associate brings intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, and a commitment to institutional-grade investment standards in an emerging sector with significant return potential.
