Chief Financial Officer

A San Francisco-based private equity firm managing 11 portfolio companies with $700M in cumulative capital commitments is seeking a Chief Financial Officer for its portfolio company — a manufacturer and distributor of specialty retail products serving consumer and retail store markets in Ohio.

The CFO will lead efforts to institutionalize a scalable, data-driven finance and operating system, transforming the business from craft-led to metrics-driven operations. The role involves professionalization for acquisition readiness, inventory optimization, SKU rationalization, and pricing discipline improvements. The PE sponsor plans an exit around 2030 following a control buyout structure.

Key Responsibilities:

- Build and lead the finance organization to support growth and eventual exit

- Implement scalable, data-driven financial and operating systems

- Drive pricing, margin, and inventory optimization initiatives

- Lead financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting

- Support M&A diligence and integration activities

- Partner closely with the PE sponsor and board

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience

- Background leading a $10M-$100M manufacturing/distribution company

- Strong strategic finance orientation with pricing, margin, and inventory expertise

- Private equity experience highly preferred

- M&A experience considered beneficial
