About This Role

Capitala Group is a capital solutions provider that has invested private credit and private equity in lower and middle-market businesses across North America for over twenty years. Since its founding in 1998, Capitala has deployed more than $3.2 billion using a flexible capital mandate to deliver creative financing solutions, partnering with strong management teams to support growth through strategic partnerships and operational expertise.

Associates at Capitala Group support the underwriting team in analyzing, evaluating, and executing a range of transactions, including LBOs, recapitalizations, management buyouts, refinancings, and growth financings. Working closely with analysts, other associates, vice presidents, and directors, the Associate helps guide investment decisions by building financial models for debt and equity transactions, screening potential transactions, authoring investment memoranda, and participating in presentations to senior management.

The role also covers business, financial, and industry due diligence during deal execution to evaluate the merits of a transaction, assisting with legal documentation drafting and negotiation, preparing analyses and marketing presentations for fundraising and investor relations efforts, and supporting portfolio management tasks such as financial statement analysis.

Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with 2-4 years of relevant experience in middle-market investment banking, leveraged finance, private equity, or a related field. The role requires excellent analytical skills and the ability to build complex financial models, strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks concurrently, a self-motivated and diligent work ethic, and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, keen attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills round out the requirements. The position is based in Charlotte, NC, with a Summer 2026 start date.
