Director / Senior Associate - PEPI Operations & Supply Chain - Food & Beverage

Alvarez & Marsal's Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice is seeking a Director or Senior Associate to join its Operations & Supply Chain team in Germany, with a strong focus on the Food & Beverage industry.

The PEPI practice partners directly with private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies to diagnose operational challenges, design value-creation plans, and implement sustainable improvements. This role involves leading large, complex engagements for PE-backed food and beverage businesses, working closely with PE deal teams and operating partners throughout the investment lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include evaluating the operability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of food production and manufacturing facilities, including hygiene, safety, and quality standards. The successful candidate will analyze current and historical operational data to assess productivity, capacity utilization, yield performance, and supply chain flows. Hands-on engagement with plant leadership, operations teams, and customers within food manufacturing environments is central to the role.

The Director / Senior Associate will identify and quantify value creation and cost improvement opportunities — spanning lean transformations, waste reduction, footprint optimization, outsourcing analysis, and site consolidation. They will develop end-to-end transformation roadmaps tailored to food production environments, complete with impact assessment, risk mitigation, and implementation planning. Leading execution, managing teams, and building client relationships with private equity sponsors and portfolio companies are core expectations.

Required qualifications include extensive professional experience combining industry and consulting, with a proven track record in the Food & Beverage, FMCG, or adjacent manufacturing sectors. Candidates must demonstrate prior experience working with or for private equity sponsors and PE-backed portfolio companies. Deep functional expertise is required in one or more of the following: supply chain operations in FMCG or food, manufacturing operations including S&OP, footprint optimization and plant consolidation, CapEx planning, or operational excellence and lean/six sigma methodologies in food environments.
