Analysis

Bangkok-based Amity Robotics has successfully closed a $7 million Seed funding round, signaling a significant step towards its ambition of becoming a global leader in Physical AI. The funding, a mix of equity and debt, was led by East Ventures, with participation from 500 Global for the equity portion and AlteriQ Global providing debt financing. This capital injection is earmarked to propel the company's mission of developing world-class robotics and AI solutions that interact with the physical world.

The company is carving out a niche in the rapidly evolving Physical AI sector, which focuses on AI applications that extend beyond digital interfaces to tangible, real-world interactions through robotics and smart devices. Amity Robotics' core offering, ARC Base, is an AI-powered intelligent kiosk designed as a virtual receptionist. This innovative solution is already deployed in over 30 locations across seven key markets, including Singapore, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The company is also set to launch its first European installation this July, demonstrating its international reach and appeal.

Prominent clients for ARC Base include major retail and hospitality groups such as Pavilion KL, Siam Piwat, The Mall Group, and Pacific Place Jakarta, alongside global hotel giants like IHG, Accor, and Shangri La. This widespread adoption underscores the commercial viability and immediate impact of Amity Robotics' Physical AI solutions. The company further differentiates itself through its proprietary Robotic Operating System, which manages voice interaction and robot movement, and its custom-developed Edge AI technology. Edge AI enables on-device processing, reducing latency and enhancing responsiveness, crucial for real-time physical interactions.

Looking ahead, Amity Robotics is preparing to launch ARC Move, its first mobile robot. This new product is designed to expand the Physical AI platform beyond static kiosks, enabling robots to actively assist, guide, and interact with customers within large physical spaces like retail stores and venues. This move signifies a strategic expansion into more dynamic and interactive robotic applications.

Karawut Chiaravanont, Chairman of Amity Robotics, expressed confidence in building a leading Physical AI company from Southeast Asia, emphasizing that this funding round validates their vision. Willson Cuaca, Co-founder and Managing Partner at East Ventures, highlighted the team's proven ability to achieve commercial success rapidly, citing the ARC Base deployments as evidence. He stated, "We are delighted to increase our support for Karawut and the team as they build the future of Physical AI from Southeast Asia."

Lionel Chin, COO of Amity Robotics, added that the strong traction of ARC Base in diverse markets confirms the readiness of Physical AI for commercial deployment. The new capital will facilitate deeper system integration, operational expansion, and the market introduction of ARC Move. The success of Amity Robotics, a sister company to the AI firm Amity which recently raised $100 million in Series D funding, highlights a growing trend of sophisticated AI applications entering the physical realm, promising enhanced customer experiences and operational efficiencies across various industries.
