Temasek, a global investment company, is seeking a seasoned Director to lead Venture Capital Investments based in San Francisco, United States. This role presents a significant opportunity to drive strategic investments in early-stage to growth-stage companies, contributing directly to Temasek's expanding global portfolio and long-term value creation objectives.

As a global investment company with a net portfolio value of S$382 billion (as of 31 March 2023), Temasek has a commercial objective to deliver sustainable returns over the long term. The firm invests across a broad spectrum of asset classes, sectors, and geographies, with a focus on identifying and supporting innovative companies that align with its investment themes. This Director will play a pivotal role in strengthening Temasek’s presence and impact within the venture capital ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Investment Sourcing and Screening:* Proactively identify, evaluate, and cultivate a pipeline of venture capital investment opportunities. This involves engaging with entrepreneurs, incubators, accelerators, and other venture capital firms to uncover promising companies aligned with Temasek's investment mandate.

Due Diligence and Analysis:* Lead comprehensive due diligence processes on potential investments. This includes conducting in-depth market analysis, competitive landscape assessments, business model validations, technology reviews, and management team evaluations. Develop robust financial models, perform valuation analyses, and assess investment risks and returns.

Deal Structuring and Execution:* Structure, negotiate, and finalize investment terms, working closely with internal legal, finance, and investment teams. Ensure all transactions adhere to Temasek’s investment policies and risk parameters.

Portfolio Management:* Actively monitor the performance of existing portfolio companies, providing strategic guidance and identifying opportunities for value creation. Represent Temasek on portfolio company boards or as an observer, fostering strong relationships with management teams and co-investors.

Market Research and Strategy:* Maintain a deep understanding of venture capital trends, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics across relevant sectors. Contribute to the development of Temasek's venture capital investment strategy, identifying new areas of focus and potential opportunities.

Internal Collaboration and Reporting:* Prepare detailed investment memos, present compelling recommendations to Temasek's Investment Committee, and contribute to internal reporting on investment performance and market insights.

This Director will operate with significant autonomy, leveraging Temasek's extensive network and resources to identify and support innovative companies. The successful candidate will possess a strong track record of venture capital investing, a deep understanding of technology and innovation, and the ability to build and maintain high-value relationships.
