Pivotal Life Sciences, a venture capital firm investing in biotechnology and therapeutics, is hiring a Senior Investment Associate for its San Francisco investment team. The role uniquely combines finance, therapeutics investment research, and artificial intelligence, focusing on leveraging data science to strengthen investment decisions in the biotech sector.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and due diligence on biotechnology investment opportunities, with a focus on AI-driven insights

- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate potential investments

- Work closely with senior investment professionals, data scientists, and engineers to integrate AI and analytics into the investment process

- Contribute to predictive algorithms and AI models that inform investment strategy and portfolio performance

- Prepare and present investment recommendations to senior leadership and investment committees

- Build relationships with industry experts, portfolio companies, and key opinion leaders

Qualifications

- Advanced degree (PhD) in Biology or a related life sciences field required

- 2-5 years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, or buy/sell-side public investment research, ideally focused on therapeutics

- Familiarity with data analysis, machine learning, and AI applications in finance/biotechnology; basic Python a plus

- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis skills

- Excellent communication and analytical abilities
