Investment Director, Asia-Pacific Private Credit

HSBC Asset Management is seeking a high calibre professional to join its team as Investment Director, Asia-Pacific Private Credit within International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB).

Role Overview

The Investment Director will lead origination, diligence and screening of corporate-, family- and financial sponsor-backed private credit opportunities across Asia-Pacific for the Fund. Responsibilities include conducting detailed credit assessments via financial modelling, downside and recovery analysis, sector and country research, as well as ESG and structural risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the origination and screening of private credit investment opportunities across Asia-Pacific, covering corporate-, family- and financial sponsor-backed transactions

- Structure and negotiate transactions — working on tailored covenants, security packages and innovative instruments typical of Asia-Pacific private credit markets

- Draft clear, persuasive investment memoranda for presentation to the Investment Committee

- Monitor portfolio positions and market developments, including early-warning analysis, amendment discussions and workout or restructuring situations

- Build and develop effective working relationships across HSBC Asset Management, HSBC Bank, investors, borrowers and key third-party market participants

- Coach junior team members to ensure sharing of best practices and continued technical development

Requirements

- Extensive experience gained in private credit, leveraged finance, structured finance or similar disciplines

- Proven track record of mid-market lending experience and working with corporates, family-backed businesses, promoters and financial sponsors

- Strong commercial acumen and awareness of economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues across Asia-Pacific markets
