Role Overview

Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) is hiring an Investment Associate for its External Investing Group (XIG), joining the growing Early-Stage Capital team in San Francisco. XIG identifies, researches, and selects leading third-party investment managers, providing institutional and individual investors with advisory and investment solutions across private equity funds, co-investment strategies, secondaries, hedge fund managers, GP stakes, and real estate managers. XIG has over 350 professionals across 11 offices globally.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive due diligence for direct investments and fund commitments

- Build financial analyses, waterfall models, and internal investment memos

- Research market trends and develop industry perspectives through sector reports

- Proactively source new early-stage investment opportunities

- Analyze, monitor, and manage current portfolio holdings

- Attend industry conferences and build relationships with GPs and portfolio companies

- Support operational activities across the deal team

Qualifications

- BA/BS from a leading undergraduate institution

- 2-3+ years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, venture capital, or private equity

- Strong research and analytical skills, including Excel and PowerPoint proficiency

- Genuine curiosity about technology trends, products, and business models
