Role Description:

The Principal will be a core member of our investment team, responsible for leading critical aspects of the investment lifecycle from proactive deal sourcing through comprehensive portfolio management. This role demands a rigorous analytical approach, a robust network within the technology and venture ecosystems, and a proven ability to assess complex market opportunities, technological innovations, and founder potential. The successful candidate will operate with significant autonomy while collaborating closely with Partners and the broader investment team.

Key Responsibilities:

Deal Sourcing & Origination:* Proactively identify and engage with promising startups and exceptional entrepreneurs, building a strong pipeline of investment opportunities through extensive networking and industry engagement.

Due Diligence & Analysis:* Conduct comprehensive market, technology, team, and financial analysis for prospective investments. This includes building financial models, evaluating business plans, assessing competitive landscapes, and identifying key risks.

Investment Execution:* Prepare detailed investment memos and present recommendations to the Investment Committee. Lead or assist in structuring and negotiating complex deal terms.

Portfolio Management & Support:* Actively support portfolio companies post-investment, including providing strategic guidance, operational assistance, and fulfilling board observer duties.

Industry Engagement:* Represent Flying Fish Partners at industry events and within the broader venture capital community, enhancing the firm's reputation and network.

Firm Contribution:* Collaborate on the firm's overall strategic initiatives, fundraising efforts, and internal operational improvements.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in venture capital, private equity, or a related investment field, demonstrating a strong understanding of technology trends and startup dynamics. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree from a top-tier institution is highly preferred. Essential attributes include exceptional analytical capabilities, superior written and verbal communication skills, a proactive and collaborative mindset, and a demonstrated ability to build high-value relationships.
