Analysis

Tether, the digital assets industry giant, has announced the acquisition of a minority stake in Bit2Me, the leading digital asset platform for Spanish speakers. In addition to this equity investment, Tether is spearheading a €30 million funding round that is anticipated to close in the upcoming weeks. The funds raised are set to boost Bit2Me's expansion throughout the European Union and enhance its operations in Latin America, with a particular focus on Argentina.

The investment comes on the heels of Bit2Me achieving a significant regulatory milestone. It became the first Spanish-speaking exchange to be authorized as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) by Spain's CNMV. The MiCA license allows Bit2Me to operate legally in all 27 EU member states.

Paolo Ardoino, Tether's CEO, praised Bit2Me for its commitment to building a compliant, secure, and user-friendly infrastructure for the digital asset ecosystem. He noted that Bit2Me's focus on education, transparency, and user empowerment aligns closely with Tether's mission to facilitate an open financial system. Tether is proud to support Bit2Me in shaping the future of regulated crypto services in Europe and beyond, he added.

Since its establishment in 2014, Bit2Me has garnered more than 1.2 million users and over 7,000 companies, handling a transaction volume exceeding €3 billion. Andrei Manuel, Bit2Me's Co-founder and COO, described Tether's entry into their shareholding structure as a game-changing moment for the company. He expressed that with Tether's support, Bit2Me aims to expedite its leadership in Europe and Latin America, markets that are just starting to harness the power of decentralized finance.

Pablo Casadío, Bit2Me's Co-founder and CFO, added that their company's robust growth and trusted reputation are the outcomes of more than a decade's dedication to transparency, regulation, and customer-centric innovation. He confidently stated that with Tether's backing, Bit2Me is now poised to scale even faster across products, users, and geographies.
