Six Robotics Raises €12M for Drone Swarm Autonomy Tech

Oslo-based defense technology innovator, Six Robotics, has successfully closed a €12 million seed funding round. This significant capital injection is set to accelerate the development and deployment of its sophisticated autonomy software platform designed for unmanned systems. The funding was spearheaded by prominent venture investor DTCP, with crucial participation from Denmark’s state-backed investment entity EIFO and Copenhagen-based venture capital firm Scale Capital. This strategic backing underscores the growing importance of software-defined autonomy in modern defense capabilities.

The core of Six Robotics' innovation lies in its swarm-capable autonomy technology. This platform empowers multiple drones and unmanned platforms to operate collaboratively, exhibiting real-time adaptability within complex and contested operational environments. The company's close engagement with Norwegian defense institutions, including the Norwegian Armed Forces and the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), ensures its technology is closely aligned with pressing operational needs. The newly acquired funds will be instrumental in advancing product development, expanding market reach across European and allied defense sectors, and substantially scaling the company's workforce to meet escalating demand.

The defense sector is witnessing a rapid proliferation of unmanned systems, creating a substantial demand for advanced autonomous capabilities. Six Robotics is strategically positioned to address this need by developing software that aims to place Europe at the vanguard of this technological transition. The company's focus on enabling collaborative autonomy represents a paradigm shift, moving beyond single-unit operations to sophisticated, multi-agent coordination. Christian Fredrik Eggesbø, CEO and Founder of Six Robotics, emphasized the strategic imperative behind the company's mission. The investment from DTCP, specifically through its newly established €500 million DTCP Defence fund, signals a strong conviction in the defense technology space. Ole Aguirre, partner at DTCP Defence, noted, "Software-defined autonomy and swarming at scale are among the most technically challenging areas in modern defence, and Six Robotics is one of the few European teams with the capability to build at this level." The fund's focus on defense, security, and resilience technologies aligns perfectly with Six Robotics' objectives.

EIFO's involvement further reinforces the commitment to bolstering the European defense industry. Sara Sande, Managing Director at EIFO, commented on the investment's strategic importance: "EIFO invests in Six Robotics to accelerate defence innovation that can benefit Denmark and our allies." The company's hardware-agnostic approach to drone swarming and autonomy is recognized as a key differentiator. Additionally, Scale Capital, a firm specializing in critical European technologies, brings valuable expertise to the table, as highlighted by Founding Partner Lars Jensen: "Norway has emerged as one of the most exciting defence technology and robotics ecosystems in Europe, and Six Robotics is one of the best examples of why." This collaboration is expected to foster significant Nordic cooperation, with Six Robotics planning to establish activities in Denmark in late 2026.
