Analysis

Cosmico Group, a dynamic Italian player in the evolving Future of Work sector, has secured a significant €12 million funding injection, combining equity and debt. This capital infusion, spearheaded by P101 SGR with participation from existing backer Prana Venture, fuels the company's ambitious expansion strategy. The funding round also coincides with Cosmico's full acquisition of Flatmates, a prominent creator economy agency, marking a pivotal step in its transformation into a diversified Future of Work holding company.

The strategic acquisition of Flatmates, co-founded by Michele Pagani and Marcello Ascani, integrates a key player in the creator economy's Talent-as-a-Service model. Flatmates, which boasts a client roster including tech giants like Google and Xiaomi, alongside established brands such as Ducati and Generali, now operates fully under the Cosmico umbrella. This move significantly broadens Cosmico's service portfolio, extending its reach into the rapidly growing creator market across Italy, Spain, and the United States.

Cosmico Group CEO and co-founder Francesco Marino articulated a clear vision for the company's trajectory. "Cosmico is no longer a scale-up with a single product; we have become a Future of Work holding company, with five verticals today and a growth ambition that also runs through strategic transactions like this one," Marino stated. He highlighted the company's robust financial performance, noting that €20 million in sales have already been contracted in the first four months of 2026. The company projects €40 million in organic revenue for the current year, setting an ambitious target of €100 million by 2028, with further M&A activity planned.

The company's operational structure now encompasses four distinct verticals: Cosmico (Talent-as-a-Service for digital professionals), Flatmates (Talent-as-a-Service for the creator economy), Creative Harbour (Community-as-a-Service for employee engagement), and Play New (Talent Process Design for AI-augmented professionals). This multi-faceted approach is designed to create a comprehensive ecosystem addressing diverse needs within the modern workforce. Cosmico's strategic roadmap includes at least three additional acquisitions by the close of 2026, targeting both expansion into new Future of Work segments and consolidation within existing ones, with a focus on both Italian and Spanish markets.

Flatmates, established in 2021, operates across four key areas: talent representation, brand-creator matching, original content production, and proprietary editorial channels like FuoriBrief. The full acquisition by Cosmico is the culmination of a process that began in 2024 with an initial majority stake purchase. Michele Pagani, CEO of Flatmates, expressed enthusiasm for the integration, stating, "Joining the Cosmico Group at 100% means multiplying the tools and opportunities for the creators we represent and the brands we work with." He emphasized the shared mission of prioritizing talent and the accelerated growth potential this union unlocks.

Cosmico's impressive growth is underscored by its 2025 revenue of €24 million, representing a 109% year-over-year increase. The company serves a community of over 35,000 digital professionals and more than 300 clients, including major firms like Accenture, Deloitte Digital, and Huawei. With approximately 110 employees across Milan and Madrid, Cosmico is strategically positioned to capitalize on the ongoing transformation of work, leveraging its expanded platform and financial backing to drive further innovation and market consolidation.
