HyImpulse Raises €50M+ for Space Launch Vehicle Development

German space technology firm HyImpulse has successfully closed a significant funding round, securing upwards of €50 million. This capital infusion, an extension of its Series A, is earmarked to accelerate the development and scaling of its suborbital and orbital launch capabilities. The investment underscores a growing confidence in Europe's capacity for independent space access and the unique value proposition of HyImpulse's propulsion technology.

The funding round was co-led by prominent investors JOIN Capital and Ace Capital Partners. Further bolstering the company's financial backing were contributions from new strategic partners including North Ventures, BW-Capital, Bayern Kapital, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Existing supporter Campus Founders Ventures also reaffirmed its commitment through participation in this round.

HyImpulse distinguishes itself with a proprietary hybrid propulsion system that merges paraffin-based fuel with liquid oxygen. This innovative approach is engineered for reduced complexity and fewer components compared to traditional liquid-fuel engines, promising greater reliability and cost-effectiveness. The company is actively developing both suborbital and orbital launch vehicles, catering to a diverse clientele spanning commercial, research, and defense sectors.

Currently, HyImpulse operates the SR75, a suborbital vehicle that has already completed an inaugural flight campaign in South Australia. The company is now preparing for its second SR75 mission, scheduled to launch from Scotland's SaxaVord Spaceport by the end of 2026. Beyond suborbital services, HyImpulse is advancing its SL1 orbital launch vehicle, designed for dedicated and responsive satellite deployment. The company also sees potential applications in areas such as in-space mobility and advanced threat simulation.

The demand for agile and sovereign launch solutions is on the rise, driven by increasing satellite constellations, scientific research needs, and evolving defense requirements. This funding will directly support the next critical milestones, including preparations for the SR75's upcoming mission and the crucial maiden flight of the SL1 orbital rocket.
