Analysis

Cyera, a prominent player in data security solutions, has significantly bolstered its war chest with an additional $400 million in funding. This latest capital infusion, provided by Goldman Sachs, extends a substantial Series G round that previously valued the company at $12 billion. The extended funding underscores the escalating demand for robust security measures as organizations increasingly integrate artificial intelligence into their operations.

The company's core mission revolves around providing enterprises with a comprehensive cloud platform designed to pinpoint the location of their most sensitive business records. Cyera's technology goes beyond mere identification, offering granular insights into the nature of the data, access privileges, and the security posture of its storage. This capability is particularly critical in today's complex IT environments where data is often dispersed across numerous systems, making it challenging to maintain visibility and control.

With the rapid proliferation of AI agents, Cyera has strategically broadened its focus to address the unique security challenges they present. Following its initial Series G close in June, the company launched two specialized products: Agent Guardian and Cyera Endpoint. These offerings are engineered to safeguard business records from novel cybersecurity threats emerging from AI-driven workflows.

Agent Guardian meticulously inventories AI agents interacting with corporate data, actively scanning for vulnerabilities that could lead to data exposure. It identifies agents with excessive data access permissions, a common risk vector. Furthermore, the platform scrutinizes AI tools and management servers for security weaknesses. Customers can define granular policies dictating agent behavior, with Cyera automatically flagging non-compliant actions and offering the ability to block risky operations or quarantine compromised agents.

Complementing Agent Guardian, Cyera Endpoint extends protection to AI agents operating on employee devices, areas often outside the purview of traditional enterprise security frameworks. This tool prevents the unauthorized transfer of business data into non-work-related agents and restricts agents from exfiltrating records from devices without proper authorization. This dual-pronged approach addresses both the infrastructure and endpoint vectors of AI-related data security risks.

Adding further depth to its agent security capabilities, Cyera recently finalized the $1 billion acquisition of Oasis Security Ltd. earlier this month. Oasis Security specializes in securing non-human identities (NHIs), the accounts that AI agents utilize to access corporate applications. This acquisition enhances Cyera's ability to map NHIs, identify their associated agents, and mitigate risks stemming from overly permissive access rights, a critical component in securing modern, interconnected systems.

“AI infrastructure is moving faster than the security architecture around it,” stated Yotam Segev, Cyera’s co-founder and CEO. “This investment accelerates our work to bring data and identity together, so enterprises can give agents access with confidence and keep that access aligned with business intent.” The newly acquired capital will be instrumental in developing advanced AI security features and expanding Cyera's market presence, particularly within the federal government and international sectors.
