Analysis

Veridion, a data intelligence firm formerly known as Soleadify, has successfully closed a $20 million Series A funding round. The investment, spearheaded by Hoxton Ventures, with significant participation from existing backers including Underline Ventures, OTB Ventures, Gapminder, Day One Capital, and Launchub, will fuel the company's expansion of its dynamic, real-time digital map of global businesses.

The capital infusion arrives at a critical juncture for businesses navigating an increasingly volatile global economy. Traditional business intelligence, often relying on data updated quarterly or annually, is proving insufficient. Veridion addresses this gap by constructing a continuously refreshed 'living graph' that maps over 642 million companies across 249 countries. This intricate network details legal structures, operational footprints, and corporate hierarchies, enriched with 461 distinct data points per entity.

The company's technology analyzes billions of digital signals—from public registries and regulatory filings to news sources and company websites—to create an up-to-the-minute representation of the commercial world. This allows organizations to gain immediate insights into how geopolitical events, market fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions impact their operations and commercial relationships. For instance, the platform could instantly identify businesses exposed to disruptions in key shipping routes, enabling faster risk assessment and mitigation.

“Static business intelligence is no longer fit for an unstable world,” stated Stefan Gergely, Head of Growth at Veridion. “If the business world is changing every day, why are companies still making billion-dollar decisions using data that’s months old?” This sentiment underscores the urgent need for real-time data in sectors such as market intelligence, credit risk assessment, insurance, and supply chain management.

The Series A follows previous funding rounds, including a $6 million raise in February 2023 and a $1.5 million seed round in 2020. This sustained investor confidence highlights the growing demand for advanced, real-time business data solutions. The market for business intelligence software is projected to reach significant growth, driven by the need for data-driven decision-making in complex environments.

Florin Tufan, co-founder and CEO of Veridion, emphasized the strategic importance of the new funding. “This fresh investment is a major milestone for Veridion and will allow us to accelerate product development, grow our team and expand internationally, helping more organizations understand commercial risk before it affects their business.” The company aims to empower a wider range of enterprise-scale systems with decision-grade, live company data.

Hussein Kanji, Founder of Hoxton Ventures, expressed strong conviction in Veridion's potential. “Every important decision about a company still depends on data that is usually out of date. Veridion is rebuilding that foundation for the entire economy, and we believe it can become one of the most important data companies in the world.” This vision positions Veridion as a key player in transforming how businesses perceive and interact with global commercial information.
