Specialty Finance / Asset-Backed Finance - Associate

Role Overview

VARADERO CAPITAL, L.P., a leading alternative credit investment platform, is seeking an Associate to join its Asset-Backed Finance team in New York. The role offers exposure to the evaluation, execution, and ongoing management of investments spanning specialty finance, structured credit, and asset-backed opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

- Evaluate private ABF investment opportunities across consumer, commercial, and esoteric asset classes

- Analyze portfolio and collateral-level information to identify key drivers of risk and return

- Develop quantitative models and stress scenarios to assess performance across market environments

- Review transaction structures and financing arrangements

- Conduct due diligence on counterparties, asset originators, and underlying collateral pools

- Build and maintain analytical tools to support investment underwriting and portfolio monitoring

- Prepare investment committee materials

- Monitor portfolio positions and contribute to risk assessment and surveillance

- Partner with senior team members across the full investment lifecycle

Qualifications

- 2-5 years of relevant experience in structured finance, securitization, asset-backed credit, specialty finance, or related private credit disciplines

- Understanding of structured credit products, collateral-backed financing, and credit risk assessment

- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities
