About This Role

Role Overview

The Carlyle Group is hiring a Principal/Managing Director for its Global Portfolio Solutions (GPS) team, serving as Carlyle's primary technology value creation resource for the Americas. The role reports to the Head of Global Portfolio Solutions and works directly with deal teams and portfolio company technology leadership across Carlyle's US Buyout portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

- Partner with portfolio management and deal teams to develop and execute technology value creation roadmaps aligned to each company's investment thesis and ownership stage

- Advise portfolio companies on large-scale technology transformation programs, including carve-outs, acquisitions, modernization, platform consolidation, and cloud migration

- Evaluate portfolio companies' technology spend to identify opportunities to optimize profitability across labor, software, hardware, and services

- Serve as a thought partner to portfolio company CIOs, CTOs, and CPOs on technology investment prioritization and organizational design

- Develop technology case studies and playbooks, and lead Carlyle's annual technology leadership summits for portfolio company executives

- Support deal teams with technology diligence, risk assessment, and investment committee materials on prospective and add-on investments

Qualifications

- 10-15 years of professional experience as a CTO, CIO, or senior technology executive at a PE- or venture-backed company, or as a senior leader at a top-tier technology consulting firm

- Deep expertise in technology value creation, including product engineering, software architecture, infrastructure modernization, and AI/ML adoption

- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technology transformation programs and familiarity with the private equity deal cycle and value creation planning

- Strong ability to engage and influence at the CTO/CIO/CPO/CFO/COO/CEO level as well as with PE investment professionals

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $300,000 to $400,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package and eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive program. The role is based in the United States and requires moderate travel.
