About This Role

The Carlyle Group is seeking an Associate Vice President, AI Solutions and Finance Strategy Lead to serve as the finance-side leader for artificial intelligence, reporting, and strategy within the Finance Process & Operations (FPO) team. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this AVP acts as the business counterpart to Carlyle's Corporate Services AI engineering function — where engineering builds the firm's next generation of AI-native products, this role owns the finance strategy behind them.

The position is responsible for identifying the highest-leverage AI opportunities across finance functions, translating ambiguous business problems into scoped solutions, orchestrating delivery in partnership with engineering, and driving adoption and realized value across the organization. The AVP sets the AI vision and roadmap for FPO's finance functions, picking spots where AI and automation deliver the biggest payoff and focusing the firm's investment on high-impact workflows.

Key responsibilities include AI Strategy & Opportunity Leadership (~25%): owning the AI vision, strategy, and roadmap for FPO finance functions; maintaining a prioritized portfolio of AI use cases scored on value, feasibility, and effort; defining measurable outcome metrics such as cycle-time, accuracy, exception volume, and throughput; and continuously scanning the AI landscape including models, agentic frameworks, and tools to bring promising capabilities into finance practice.

As Finance Strategic Partner & Translation (~20%), the AVP acts as trusted AI advisor to finance leadership and function heads, embedding with stakeholders to identify and scope the highest-leverage AI opportunities, and serving as the bridge between finance end-users and the Corporate Services AI engineering team.

The role leads a small, agile team that forms around high-priority finance challenges and delivers solutions at speed. Success requires the judgment to prioritize ruthlessly, the credibility to partner with senior finance and technology leaders, and intellectual honesty about what AI can and cannot reliably do. The AVP governs how finance AI is built and used, and communicates strategy and progress at the highest levels of the firm.

This is an in-office role requiring 4 days per week at Carlyle's Washington, DC office. The Carlyle Group manages over $440 billion in assets across private equity, credit, infrastructure, and real assets globally.
