About This Role

Role Overview

StepStone Group, a global private markets specialist delivering investment solutions and advisory services to institutional investors, is hiring a Private Equity Analyst through its First STEP Program — an entry-level early careers program for graduating undergraduates with an anticipated start date of August 2027. The Analyst will engage broadly across the private equity industry, including manager and fund diligence for StepStone's advisory practice, as well as diligence for its co-investment and secondaries business lines.

Key Responsibilities

- Work with the investment team to source, screen, and conduct due diligence on private equity fund managers, co-investments, and secondaries

- Perform quantitative and qualitative research and financial modeling on companies and assets across industries and geographies

- Interact with fund managers and portfolio company management teams on portfolio and asset-level underwriting

- Analyze PPMs, financial statements, and investment returns; conduct reference calls as part of due diligence

- Perform market research to identify and analyze macroeconomic trends across industry sectors

- Prepare due diligence materials and Investment Committee memos; present recommendations to the investment team

- Monitor the performance of the firm's existing investments

Qualifications

- Must be able to work legally in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

- Undergraduate student graduating between December 2026 and June 2027, GPA of 3.5 or higher

- Excellent quantitative and financial modeling skills; strong sense of risk/reward trade-offs

- High proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; fluent written and spoken English

Compensation & Location

Salary: $112,500 annually. Based in New York, with a rolling application deadline.
