Vice President, Quantitative Researcher, Infrastructure & Real Assets

Role overview

HarbourVest Partners is hiring a Vice President, Quantitative Researcher to join its Quantitative Investment Sciences (QIS) team in Boston. The QIS team is a group of researchers, data engineers and software developers who apply quantitative models and tools to private market investment decision making and portfolio management. This person will serve as the dedicated quantitative researcher for HarbourVest's Infrastructure and Real Assets strategy team. The position is hybrid, with 18 remote workdays per quarter.

Key responsibilities

- Quantitative modeling and analysis of private infrastructure and real assets markets and secondary investment opportunities (80% of the role)

- Apply models to characterize market risk/return relationships and return drivers and to evaluate investment opportunities in the private markets

- Communicate results and actionable insights to the investment team

- Lead a strategic research and development plan with investment team leadership, incorporating new models and techniques (AI/ML) to scale the investment process

- Support fundraising and ad-hoc quantitative analysis requests, including client-facing teams and published research (20%)

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in quantitative equity research and systematic investment methodologies

- Demonstrated ability to run independent research, apply rigorous statistical techniques and translate findings into actionable investment insights

- Experience with large, complex datasets and building quantitative models for investment decision-making

- Advanced Python and SQL skills; machine learning and data science familiarity is a plus

- Experience in asset management, hedge funds, proprietary trading firms or similar investment environments; exposure to infrastructure, real assets or private markets is preferred
