Associate, Operational Due Diligence

The Operational Due Diligence team at Hamilton Lane performs comprehensive operational and back-office reviews of private market investment managers that the firm is considering for its client portfolios. In this role, the candidate will play an integral part in ongoing due diligence, risk mitigation, and monitoring of investment managers, including ensuring compliance with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and limited partnership agreements, while helping build out the function and enhance the group's approaches to assessing and monitoring.

Responsibilities include performing initial and ongoing operational due diligence reviews of private equity investment managers, evaluating the quality of managers' organization, accounting/valuation, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure, and preparing and conducting in-depth, on-site due diligence meetings with senior management such as CFOs, COOs, and CCOs. The role also involves preparing comprehensive written reports on the operational environment of potential investments, performing ongoing monitoring of investments including analyzing audited financial statements, investment activity reports, and Form ADV filings, and developing market intelligence by liaising with fund managers, administrators, and auditors.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree with 1-5 years of experience (title commensurate with experience), knowledge of the private equity, hedge fund, and asset management industry, and experience in finance, accounting, or financial services. A CPA, CAIA, or CFA designation (or progress toward one) is a plus, along with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior-level management. Flexibility to travel up to 5% is required.
