Private Equity Director

FM (Factory Mutual) is a leading property insurer serving more than one-third of FORTUNE 1000-size companies with engineering-based risk management and property insurance solutions. With operations spanning more than 100 countries and a highly experienced investment team, FM manages a diversified institutional portfolio with significant private markets allocations.

The Private Equity Director role sits within FM's investment management team, working closely with the VP of Private Alternative Investments. The primary focus is on private equity investments — spanning private equity, growth equity, and venture capital — managed through external investment management partners, as well as co-investments and direct investments.

Key responsibilities include helping construct and optimize the private equity portfolio, conducting diligence on new fund vintages from existing managers, and identifying and sourcing new private equity opportunities through investment managers, sponsor relationships, intermediaries, and direct channels. The role also involves risk and performance analytics across private markets, collaboration on asset allocation strategy, and supporting economic and financial markets projects related to the private equity landscape.

The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in financial modeling, valuations, and transaction terms and structures, with investment banking or private markets experience a plus. Success requires sound judgment in portfolio construction, a strong understanding of liquidity considerations within a total portfolio context, and the ability to navigate a collaborative institutional investment environment.
