About This Role

Fidelity Investments is seeking a Director, Private Equity Investments to focus on the semiconductor and technology hardware sectors, working closely with the Global Head of Private Equity Investments as well as Fidelity's Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts. The role involves recommending and implementing mid-to-late-stage Venture Growth investments in these sectors on behalf of Fidelity funds and the dedicated Venture Growth strategies and products, based in either Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA.

The Director will build relationships with entrepreneurs, founders, CEOs, other venture capital investors, and market counterparts to ensure a continued pipeline of opportunities for Fidelity's funds and Venture Growth strategies. Responsibilities include performing deep due diligence and investment recommendations, including financial modeling and valuation analysis; developing partnerships with Fidelity's investment teams, including building trust with Portfolio Managers who invest in private companies and collaborating with public-side Research Analysts on private investment ideas; maintaining relationships with portfolio companies and occasionally serving as a Board Observer; and reviewing the terms of each venture capital investment led, working closely with legal on documentation and ongoing information flow for fair value purposes.

Candidates should bring 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with experience investing in or analyzing private or public equity securities in the semiconductor/technology hardware sectors required, and a preference for growth equity or venture capital background. Strong analytical and communication skills, the confidence to engage with founders and board members, and intellectual curiosity about the venture capital ecosystem are expected.

Fidelity's Equity division has managed diversified and industry-specific funds since the 1940s, relying on proprietary research, disciplined portfolio management, and sophisticated trading processes to construct and manage investment portfolios. The base salary range for this position is $150,000-$250,000 per year, with placement varying based on responsibilities, location, and experience, plus bonus or other variable compensation and a benefits package including health care coverage, retirement plans, and paid time off. Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.
