About This Role
Role Overview
Fidelity Investments is hiring a Director within its Private Equity Investments team to lead mid-to-late-stage Venture Growth investments in the semiconductor and technology hardware sectors. The role sits within Fidelity's Equity division, working alongside the Global Head of Private Equity Investments, Portfolio Managers, and Research Analysts, based in Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Build relationships with Founders/CEOs/CFOs/Board Members, other venture capital investors, and industry counterparts to source a continued pipeline of private investment opportunities for Fidelity's funds and dedicated Venture Growth strategies.
- Lead due diligence and investment recommendations for private companies in the semiconductor and technology hardware space, including financial modeling and valuation analysis.
- Partner closely with Fidelity's public-side Research Analysts and Portfolio Managers who invest in private companies, building trust and collaboration across teams.
- Maintain relationships with portfolio companies, acting as a trusted partner and occasionally serving as a Board Observer.
- Review investment terms, collaborate with legal on documentation, and maintain ongoing information flow for Fair Value reporting purposes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience investing in or analyzing private or public equity securities in the semiconductor/technology hardware sectors, with a preference for growth equity or venture capital background.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the highest level of personal and professional integrity.
- Comfort engaging with Founders, Board Members, and both venture capital and strategic investors.
- Intellectual curiosity about the private company/venture capital ecosystem, with high initiative and motivation.

Fidelity's Equity division has managed diversified and industry-specific funds since the 1940s, combining portfolio managers, research analysts, sector specialists, and traders across style, capitalization, sector, and geography.
Compensation & Location
Base salary range: $150,000-$250,000 per year, with placement depending on responsibilities, geography, and experience; base salary is part of a broader total compensation package including bonus/variable pay. Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model. Note: Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.
