About This Role
Deerpath Capital is a leading direct lending firm specializing in providing first lien senior debt financing to middle market companies. The firm focuses on providing debt capital for acquisitions, refinancings, ownership transitions, and growth capital to companies in the U.S. lower middle market. Deerpath maintains investment offices in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Fort Lauderdale, with overseas investor relations offices in London, Seoul, Tokyo, and Brisbane. The firm employs approximately 100 employees globally.
The Director, Origination will manage and develop sponsor relationships to originate deal flow across the lower middle market. Core responsibilities include screening and identifying attractive transaction opportunities, managing the internal investment approval process with oversight and presentation of analyses to the firm's investment committee, developing transaction structures, and negotiating deal terms with sponsors and borrowers. The role also involves spearheading due diligence processes including external diligence meetings and calls, leading legal documentation review and negotiation, and monitoring the ongoing performance of existing credits.
The ideal candidate has 10 or more years of overall experience, including 6 to 10 or more years at a buy-side credit or direct lending fund, or in leveraged finance or debt capital markets at an investment bank. Relevant sponsor coverage experience is viewed positively. The position requires considerable deal execution experience with proven ability to drive deal processes from origination through close, strong communication skills for interfacing with sponsors and management teams, excellent financial modeling skills, and willingness to travel. A strong academic record including a bachelor's degree is required.
Location preference is given to candidates in Boston, Chicago, and South Florida, though other locations are considered. Compensation ranges from $200,000 to $250,000 annually plus a competitive bonus.
