Principal

Connecticut Innovations (CI), the state's leading source of funding and strategic support for growing technology companies, is seeking a Principal for its investment team based in New Haven, Connecticut. CI invests in and supports early-stage deep tech, FinTech, InsurTech, SaaS, and PaaS companies, playing a central role in developing Connecticut's innovation ecosystem.

The Principal will execute CI's investment strategy through market research, pipeline development, and active participation across all phases of the investment process. Core responsibilities include sourcing and evaluating investment prospects, representing the firm at industry events, conducting financial modeling and valuation analysis, and drafting term sheets and reviewing financing documents. The Principal will also support portfolio companies as a board observer, contributing strategic guidance during growth phases.

CI is looking for candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, supported by an MBA or master's degree. The ideal candidate brings prior experience in market research, management consulting, venture capital, or investment management, along with meaningful work experience within high-growth, early-stage technology companies. Founder experience is a positive differentiator. Strong project management skills, the ability to synthesize complex data into compelling narratives, and genuine passion for technology innovation are essential.

The position is hybrid with required on-site presence on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Connecticut residency is required. Compensation includes a competitive base salary with bonus opportunities.
