Director - Private Markets

Cerity Partners is a leading independent wealth management and advisory firm providing investment advisory services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutions. As Director – Private Markets, you will be a senior investment professional covering private market strategies across buyouts, private credit, growth equity, and venture capital.

You will conduct rigorous investment due diligence on alternative managers, generate investment research content, and serve as a trusted advisor to client relationships managing allocations to private markets.

Core responsibilities:

Manager Research (65%)

- Identify and track promising fund managers across private equity, credit, growth equity, and VC coming to market over the next 2–3 years

- Proactively engage with managers, represent Cerity Partners as a potential LP

- Conduct preliminary and in-depth investment due diligence; write detailed research reports assessing fund strengths, weaknesses, and key risks

- Present high-conviction manager recommendations to the investment committee

Client Service (25%)

- Construct and analyze private market portfolios for clients; present pacing plans, performance updates, and investment recommendations to Boards and Committees

- Respond to client questions in real time on portfolio positioning and alternatives strategy

- Lead RFP responses with data, analysis, and written assessments

Business Development (10%)

- Proactively develop prospective client relationships with an expectation to build a book of business over time

What you bring:

- 7+ years of institutional investment experience in private markets

- Deep knowledge of at least one or more private market strategies (PE, credit, growth, VC)

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing delivery

- CFA or CAIA preferred
