About This Role
BlackRock is hiring an Associate to join Decarbonization Partners in its San Francisco office. Decarbonization Partners is a joint venture between BlackRock and Temasek focused on late-stage venture capital and growth private equity investing in next-generation companies that provide solutions and technologies to accelerate the transition to a net zero global economy by 2050. The platform combines BlackRock's and Temasek's complementary expertise in sourcing and underwriting private investments, portfolio and risk management, and sustainable technology and analytics, investing out of a $1.4 billion fund with a focus on energy, mobility, industrial, and digital solutions across North America, Europe, and Asia.
The Associate will join an experienced senior team in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment, with significant exposure to deals across a wide range of sectors and geographies. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining financial models to analyze investment opportunities; collaborating with the investment team to assess and execute investments, including due diligence, financial reviews, and preparation of investment committee materials; conducting market research on potential investments, industries, and competitive dynamics; assisting in the management of portfolio companies; and providing portfolio reporting and analytics for internal and external use.
Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree with a strong academic record, preferably in a STEM field, and bring 2-3 years of experience in investment banking or private markets investing. A passion for investing in Next-Gen Energy Systems, Advanced Mobility, or Climate Infrastructure is preferred, along with proficiency in financial modeling and investment evaluation and experience with due diligence and financial/legal document review. Strong project management skills, and excellent presentation and communication skills, round out the ideal profile.
The San Francisco salary range for this position is $135,000-$180,000, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and BlackRock's standard benefits package, including healthcare, retirement, and flexible time off.
