Principal, Private IG

Apollo Global Management is seeking a Principal to join its Private Investment Grade (Private IG) team, part of the Global Investment Grade business. The team focuses on the origination, structuring, underwriting, execution, and ongoing management of illiquid investments across developed markets.

The team operates with a format-agnostic mandate covering 4(a)(2) private placements, bilateral and club senior secured loans, forward-flow structures, infrastructure and project finance, and secondary purchases. The objective is to earn excess spread over comparable public investment grade for additional complexity and illiquidity.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead origination, structuring, underwriting, and execution of private investment grade transactions across developed markets

- Lead fundamental credit analysis on transactions, providing independent credit opinions on business risk, financial risk, structural risk, and relative value

- Present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee

- Lead structuring, covenant negotiation, and documentation across formats

- Partner with Apollo's High Grade Corporate Solutions, Apterra, ABF, and other origination channels

- Independently cultivate bank, agent, sponsor, and direct issuer relationships

- Source opportunities through proactive research, leveraging sector expertise

- Set the standard for the team's investment process and lead AI adoption across workflows

- Manage and develop junior team members as the platform scales

The role requires a high level of technical ability, analytical rigor, and creativity in solving complex financing problems, with the judgment and presence to operate with minimal oversight.
