Principal, Private IG Portfolio Management & Workouts

Apollo Global Management is seeking a Principal to join its Private Investment Grade team within the Global Investment Grade business. This role focuses on origination, structuring, underwriting, execution, and ongoing portfolio management of illiquid investments across developed markets.

The team operates with a format-agnostic mandate covering 4(a)(2) private placements, bilateral and club senior secured loans, forward-flow structures, infrastructure and project finance, and secondary purchases. The objective is to earn excess spread over comparable public investment grade investments for the additional complexity and illiquidity premium.

This Principal seat is the team primary portfolio management and workouts role. The person in this role owns active management of a large and complex existing book, including covenant monitoring, amendments, waivers, restructurings, and position management decisions, while also executing new investments. The role requires forensic credit instinct to identify problems early and execution capability to lead transactions, manage counterparties, and present investment views to the Investment Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead portfolio monitoring across assigned holdings including financial performance tracking, covenant compliance, rating migration, and early identification of credit deterioration

- Lead amendments, waivers, and consent requests, managing the full counterparty process from identification through negotiation, documentation, and execution

- Lead workout and restructuring situations, including active position management decisions such as secondary sales, position sizing adjustments, and capital stack repositioning

- Lead underwriting and execution on new private investment grade transactions with fundamental credit analysis and Investment Committee presentations

- Lead structuring, covenant negotiation, and documentation on new deals across formats
