Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative Grants Over $225K

Yamaha Motor Corp., USA has channeled over $225,000 into initiatives aimed at bolstering outdoor recreation and conservation during its second quarter funding cycle. This significant investment, distributed through the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (Yamaha OAI), supports seven distinct organizations across the United States. The grants are strategically allocated to projects focusing on youth engagement in outdoor activities, the preservation and expansion of recreational trails, and the promotion of safe, responsible motorized use.

The latest round of funding underscores a commitment to diverse outdoor pursuits. Recipients are undertaking projects that span from introducing young people to boating and fishing, as seen with the Catalina Outdoor Adventure Club which also received a 40-horsepower outboard motor from Yamaha Rightwaters, to critical trail maintenance and development. For instance, the Georgia Recreational Trail Riders Association (GARTRA) will utilize its grant for trail upkeep across seven Georgia OHV areas, while the Quad Cities ATV Club is set to rehabilitate two vital trails in Minnesota, enhancing connectivity to a larger trail network.

Beyond trail infrastructure, the initiative is investing in the future of outdoor enthusiasts. The long-standing partnership with the Strider Education Foundation / All Kids Bike continues for a fifth year, enabling the expansion of their Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program to an additional 12 schools nationwide. This program has been instrumental in teaching foundational cycling skills to young children, fostering a lifelong connection with outdoor activity. This aligns with a broader trend in the powersports industry, where manufacturers are increasingly investing in programs that cultivate new generations of riders and outdoor participants.

Further demonstrating the breadth of its support, Yamaha OAI is aiding projects that enhance safety and accessibility. The San Luis Valley Great Outdoors in Colorado will develop a new connector trail and improve signage, while the Summit County Off-Road Riders (SCORR) will focus on track maintenance and safety upgrades at their motocross facility. Additionally, the West Central Montana Avalanche Foundation will bolster backcountry trail maintenance and safety education for motorized recreation in the Seeley Lake region, highlighting the initiative's commitment to responsible backcountry access.

Since its inception in 2008, the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative has become a cornerstone of industry-led conservation and access efforts, contributing over $8 million to more than 575 projects nationwide. This sustained commitment reflects Yamaha's dedication to ensuring the longevity of outdoor recreational opportunities.
