Vertiv Acquires ThermoKey for AI Data Center Cooling

Vertiv has finalized its acquisition of ThermoKey, a specialist in heat rejection and exchange technologies. This strategic move significantly enhances Vertiv's capacity to address the escalating thermal management demands of artificial intelligence infrastructure and high-density data centers. The integration of ThermoKey's expertise is expected to accelerate Vertiv's delivery of advanced cooling solutions critical for next-generation compute power.

The acquisition deepens Vertiv's operational footprint across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), bolstering its ability to offer comprehensive thermal architectures. These systems are engineered to support evolving generations of computing hardware, a crucial factor as AI workloads continue to expand exponentially. The global market for data center cooling solutions is projected to reach over $15 billion by 2028, driven by the insatiable demand for processing power, particularly from AI applications.

ThermoKey, established in 1991, brings over three decades of specialized engineering knowledge and in-house design and manufacturing capabilities. Their product suite includes advanced heat-exchange solutions, dry coolers, and technologies designed for refrigerants with low global warming potential. Notably, Vertiv has already integrated certain ThermoKey technologies into its existing thermal management offerings, indicating a strong pre-existing synergy.
